Visit the Lindt Chocolate Factory in Kilchberg, Zurich

How to ge there
By Boat
Our recommendation for your journey to the Lindt Home of Chocolate is to begin with a boat trip from Zurich Bürkliplatz to Kilchberg. It is the short lake cruise you'll want to take. Since there are two boats going in opposite directions, you can either take the long tour along the Gold Coast (east side) of Lake Zurich or the short tour along the Silver Coast on the west side. In either case, you have to get off in Kilchberg.
Upon arriving in Kilchberg, you can either take the
Pilgerweg (red):
Head directly to the main street. After crossing it, find a small path called Pilgerweg, nestled between the first and second rows of buildings. This shortcut leads you straight to the Lindt Home of Chocolate, saving you from walking along the main road and ensuring a smooth start to your visit.
Or walk through the park (yellow) along the lake until you get to Schorengasse, where you need to make your way up to the main road to see the Lindt building just on the other side of the street.
By train
Coming from Zurich Main train station, you can take either the S8 or S24 train, which run approximately every 15 minutes and stop at Kilchberg train station. From there, you can walk along the Pilgerweg (green) or take Bus 163 to the Lindt factory. When coming from Zurich, the bus departs from right behind the train station building.
By Bus
Buses 165 depart from Zurich Bürkliplatz every 30 minutes in the direction of Rüschlikon, Park im Grüene. The bus stops right in front of the Lindt factory.
By car
Lindt has its own parking garage right in front of the main building. The parking is relatively pricey. As a secret tip, you can park for free in front of the chocolate outlet, from which it's just a short walk to the main building.
Visiting the Lindt Chocolate Factory
As you enter the grand hall of the Lindt Home of Chocolate, you'll be greeted by a magnificent chocolate fountain, setting the tone for the experience ahead. From here, you can explore the official Lindt store, visit the Lindt café, or begin one of the many courses and museum tours.
Free movie about Lindt Chocolate
When you enter the hall and pass by the massive chocolate fountain, you'll find a small film theater at the end, playing a continuous loop about Lindt and the history of chocolate.
Chocolate-Making Courses
Engage in hands-on chocolate-making courses led by expert chocolatiers. Learn the art of tempering, molding, and crafting your own chocolate masterpieces. These sessions offer a unique opportunity to gain insights into the intricate techniques behind chocolate creation. There are different courses you can choose from on their website. Even though they are called walk-in courses, preregistration is highly recommended.
Guided Factory Tours
Take a guided tour of the Lindt Home of Chocolate to uncover the fascinating journey from cocoa bean selection to the final delectable product. Experience the multimedia chocolate tour, exploring the origins of chocolate, meeting Swiss chocolate pioneers, and witnessing the entire chocolate-making process. Tours include chocolate tastings and exclusive insights into production. Choose from various tour options on the Lindt website.
Plan Ahead for a Seamless Experience
Due to the popularity of the courses and tours, online pre-registration is highly recommended. This ensures you secure a spot in these sought-after experiences, making your visit as enjoyable and stress-free as possible.
Lindt cafe
After a day of exploring, I recommend visiting the Lindt café. Even as a local, I enjoy going there for a cup of coffee or hot chocolate with a sweet treat. It's a nice way to end your visit.
